Why Transfer to MU?

Are you considering transferring from your current college or university? If you're looking for flexible credit transfers, diverse opportunities for study and a track record of outstanding student successes, then Manchester could be your place! 

Manchester offers more than 70 areas of study to meet a wide variety of academic interests and opportunities. We prepare our students for what's next by getting them real experience and, because of our academic excellence, our students stand out against the competition. In fact, nearly 95 percent of graduates are employed, in further studies or in full-time volunteer services within six months of graduation!*

*Five-year average is 94.6 percent based on a 93 percent knowledge rate.

Credit Transfer Information

Naturally, you should be concerned that your hard-earned credits will transfer to Manchester from your current or previous college or university. Manchester will work with you individually to make sure that your credits are reviewed thoroughly and that you understand the credit transfer process.

Students with completed AA/AS degrees:

  • Students who transfer to Manchester with a completed Associate of Arts or Science degree will be granted a block transfer of 60 credits and fulfillment of all general education requirements.

Students without a completed AA/AS degree with have their courses evaluated individually. Here are a few general guidelines to see whether your class will transfer:

  • Credits were awarded by an accredited institution within the last 7 years
  • Course is a 100 level or higher
  • You received a grade of a C or higher
  • Manchester offers a course equal to and/or fits our liberal arts curriculum (LARC)
  • Classes to be applied to a major will need approval from academic department

We do have a partial listing of classes that are commonly transferred into Manchester from other institutions. These are NOT all the courses that are accepted, but a sampling. Please contact us with questions regarding a specific course(s).

Application Process

To apply for admission to Manchester University as a transfer student, you can apply online using Manchester's Application or via The Common Application. You also will need to submit your high school and college transcripts. Click here to view admission requirements.

Official Transcripts: Official, final transcripts from high school and all colleges you have attended must be sent to the Office of Admissions. GED scores are also accepted. If you have been out of school more than five years you still must submit transcripts, but work experience and other accomplishments will be given considerable weight. Please submit information about these experiences in writing.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

Manchester values the experiences of our transfer students. They bring different perspectives to learning and add value to our community. To show support of our incoming transfers, Manchester offers a variety of merit-based and Manchester-funded scholarships. Below are some of the scholarships for which you might be eligible:

  • Merit/Academic Scholarships (based on previous experience from other colleges/universities/high school) – up to $22,000 per year
  • Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship – up to $22,000 per year for students who are documented PTK members
  • Connections Award – $1,000 for any student who has had a relative attend Manchester or for students who are members of the Church of the Brethren
  • Visit Incentive – $500 per year award for students who complete a campus visit with Admissions
  • Music Scholarships – up to $3,000
  • Esports Scholarships – up to $3,000
  • Manchester Grant – based on FAFSA information that evaluates financial need and academic performance
